Just wondering, why are my jpg files are being packed up into zip files?  There aren't any storage space savings by attempting to compress an already-compressed format, and just makes it unviewable from the folder view.  Do we have the option anywhere to disable this and just have them upload as regular jpg files?

It seems you are already using cameraftp.drivehq.com?

Please visit:

You must have a paid account to use our FTP service for cameras. If you do have a paid account, please connect to cameraftp.drivehq.com instead. You shall also setup an option in your account: "This account is used for security cameras only". You can also set it to automatically delete your files after x days.

Once you set up these options, you can access the CameraShow feature to play back your recorded images. This is far better than viewing a folder directly.

Thanks for your input.  I am using cameraftp with the options set up for the security camera.  Actually the CameraShow feature is pretty nice, but it would be far more useful if we had more speed options. As it is, 1 second per frame is far too slow to check through a full day of security camera images.  At this rate it would be more convenient to view the folder view, if we had that option.  Any chance we could have the option to view the camera show in terms of multiple frames per second?

You can click on a zip file, it will display all images in the zip file. (usually 30-60 images). It should be more efficient than the Show Folder page.

Using the CameraShow feature, you can play back the recorded images from any point of time.

Lastly, I want to mention that we are launching a new service:

http://www.cameraftp.com/

As one of the largest FTP hosting service providers, we believe we can offer great and easy-to-use service to security camera users.

DriveHQ has launched www.cameraFTP.com, a new FTP service optimized for IP cameras. DriveHQ offers a complete Cloud IT Solution, which includes a state-of-the-art FTP server hosting service. Many security camera users have used our FTP service to store the recorded images offsite. Because DriveHQ.com has so many features, it might be a little hard to find the right features for security cameras.

With www.CameraFTP.com, it is much easier. You can configure your camera to upload images to ftp.cameraftp.com, (or IP Address: 66.220.9.45), and you can remotely monitor the scene or play back the old images using our CameraShow feature.

Security cameras are not secure themselves. They can be easily destroyed or tampered. By using CameraFTP service, even if an intruder destroys the security camera, he cannot delete the images stored in CameraFTP's secure data center.

If you already have a security camera (or network camera, IP camera, surveillance camera), you definitely should try our CameraFTP service. If you don't have a security camera yet, you might want to buy one now. The cost has dropped dramatically in the past few years. Now you can buy a decent quality wireless security camera for only about $100. Dependent on your image quality and upload frequency, CameraFTP service starts at only $1.5/month!

For only about $100 to a few hundred dollars, you can make your home or business much more secure. Isn't it a very good investment?
